On Sat. April 19th I headed up to West Stockbridge MA for the Berkshire Gravel Grinder. This was my 3rd year and the guys at Berkshire Velo Cycling Club put on a great event. This is not a race and there is no official start so people just start pedaling when ready. The ride is approx 39mi with 3,700 ft of climbing. The route has approx 55% gravel and the rest paved. It has a great mix of road, single track and gravel roads.

These are the kinds of rides you like! People like minded riding different types bikes and just enjoying themselves. No judgement and ride at your pace.
A couple of challenging hills and since I didn't ride much during the Winter this was a good way to start my season. My 1st year me and a friend struggled on some of these hills. Some sections were muddy making it fun and it did rain a little but the temps were great. In the previous year it was colder.
Since heading solo I figured I would run into someone I knew or I usuaully find someone riding at my pace. I started with someone I met while unpacking the car and eventually fell behind do to stopping to take a couple of pics. At the top of one of the climbs I ran into a couple of people at the aid station while refueling. I rode the 2nd half back with them. At the lot the guys from Berkshire Velo provided burgers, dogs and drinks. I look foward to next year and they do a FAll ride as well, which I will try to hit up this year.
I can't say enough about the B2G2! Thanks to the Bershire Velo Cycling Club for the oppurtunity to ride some of the scenic and historic roads of Berkshires.
